Description for EH&S Coordinator:
The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for supporting local operations by driving EH&S excellence. EH&S Coordinator will partner multiple-location leadership to foster a caring safety culture that values and respects the well-being of each team member in the distribution center. Develop, lead, and continuously evaluate and improve safety objectives and goals. The EH&S Coordinator will actively engage and collaborate with all levels of the organization to ensure that employees have the training, resources, and support to work safely. The role will work closely with distribution center leadership team to proactively develop and implement risk and hazard reduction strategies that lead to a safer workplace for all our team members. This position will report to the EH&S Manager
Responsibilities for EH&S Coordinator:
- Champion all safety policies and procedures, lead Safety Meetings, Safety Teams, and Functional Training.
- Hands on knowledge of EHS Programs, such as: Hearing conservation, Hazard Communication, PPE, BBP, MHE, Safe Lifting, Emergency Response Plans, Hand Tools Safety, Powered Tools
- Participates in the development and implementation of safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, Fire Protection, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
- Facilitate in-person training in various EHS programs.
- Ability to conduct training on Powered Industrial Trucks, such as: Reach Truck Forklift, Electric Pallet Jacks, Sit-downs, and other powered equipment.
- Promote and facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
- Identify best practices and lead continues improvements initiatives to reduce work process risk, raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.
- Investigate accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, implement preventive measures.
- Support DC’s Manager, Frontline Supervisors, and Team Leads to drive EHS culture and compliance.
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
- Advises staff on safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety as well as regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Performs hazard analyses and recommends mitigation procedures.
- Participates in the development and implementation of Safety Metrics
- Conducts routine and follow-up environmental health, safety and hazard inspections.
- Responds to emergency situations, prepares reports of findings, and submits corrective action plan.
- Stay up to date with regulatory changes and update SOPs as needed
- Assist with emergency response plans
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements for EH&S Coordinator:
- Associates degree in Business Management, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in successfully managing Safety, Health and Environmental activities in a distribution or manufacturing facility.
- Ability to adjust work hours as needed to effectively support 24/7 environment.
- Ability to travel between 3 local Distribution Centers
- Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable industry environmental, health and safety standards
- Knowledge on Powder Coating Application
- Leadership experience in high accountability culture and metrics driven environment.
- Personality to balance strong sense of compliance urgency with sensitivity to operation’s needs.
- Strong leadership voice with skills in communication, organization, presentations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business items.
- Advance Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to act as a role model, mentor or coach and trainer for key stakeholders to build team capability.
- Able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, reach, crouch, and kneel for 8+ hours.
- Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage, and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly or continuously over time.
- Certification in forklift operation preferred.
