Description for Manufacturing Engineer:Design, analyze and manage the variables (materials, manpower, methodology, machines, and environment) that impact product quality process/material efficiency and recommend/implement improvement plans. Provide leadership for production trouble shooting and process/material optimization. Leads continuous process improvements. Interfaces with Customers, Vendors, Sales, Engineering, Customer Service and Research & Development in preparation for new product trials and transitioning to manufacturing. This is a hands-on, in person role.
Responsibilities for Manufacturing Engineer:
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify areas for improvement
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Design detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow
- Research and develop new processes, equipment, and products
- Work with Sales, Research and Development, Operations and Customers to improve current and new processes as well as new products
- Develop and implement cost-saving measures and quality control systems
- Ensure manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations
- Work with Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and equipment vendors to plan and coordinate activities concerned with the design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Oversee installation of new equipment and participate in install
- Work with Maintenance on maintaining machines
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management
Requirements for Manufacturing Engineer:
- BS Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering
- Proficient using AutoCAD, Solidworks, data analysis programs, and related software
- Proficient with NFPA processes – including, though not limited to, gas/electric/fire safety, blocks & vents
- Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing processes and machinery
- Experience two or more of the following:
- mechanical design
- thermal drying
- chemical handling
- industrial electrical
- PLC troubleshooting (PLC programing not required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Team player able to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexible with work hours for all shifts and days
