Description for Manufacturing Manager:
The Manufacturing Manager oversees manufacturing operations and ensures production processes operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established workflow and assembly methods. This role is responsible for planning and directing equipment layout, managing production staff, coordinating schedules and assignments, monitoring manufacturing performance, and ensuring production and quality goals are achieved. The Manufacturing Manager works closely with internal teams and suppliers to identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities for Manufacturing Manager:
- Review financial statements, sales or activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.
- Direct and coordinate activities of businesses or departments concerned with the production, pricing, sales, or distribution of products.
- Direct administrative activities directly related to making products or providing services.
- Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.
- Monitor suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.
- Assist with planning and directing the layout of equipment.
- Ensure production follows appropriate workflow and assembly methods.
- Hire, schedule, and train production staff.
- Ensure manufacturing performance and quality goals are met.
- Lead and direct the work of others.
Requirements for Manufacturing Manager:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 7 years of leadership experience in a production or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Ability to work effectively with team members to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
