Description for Mechanical Applications Engineer:
This position is for a Mechanical Applications Engineer (Pre-Sales Engineer to support sales productivity by securing the “technical close” in complex solutions. The PSE collaborates with sales, service, engineering, and technical support resources to ensure proposed deals include technical solutions that accurately address customer needs. Reports to the Application Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities forMechanical Applications Engineer:
- Coordinate closely with sales to obtain and assess customer requirements for a proper understanding of the application.
- Translate customer requirements into product assemblies using existing company design standards.
- Review and document calculations to verify proper product selection for application use.
- Recommend solutions and seek customer approval to establish and release product bill of materials.
- Calculate component costs and understand the commercial aspect of decisions for any product solutions developed, considering the overall impact to a customer proposal.
- Coordinate activities and projects with sales, marketing, quality, and engineering team members.
- Assist customer with qualification testing.
- React to dynamic situations and suggest possible solutions as they arise.
- Resolve product performance issues through team-oriented problem solving.
- Support Engineering in new product application return analysis and product technical engineering reports.
- Work with Quality and Engineering teams to develop, document and maintain specific processes and procedures to ensure compliance with corporate requirements for projects and application product verification reviews.
- Arrange and conduct product training presentations to team members and customers that enhances their product knowledge and technical acumen.
- Initiate and lead process improvement teams to introduce new methods that improve current processes and procedures.
Requirements forMechanical Applications Engineer:
- Minimum BSME
- 1-3+ years of mechanical design, applications engineering, or testing experience within a company that offers similar products (industrial machinery, agricultural vehicle, construction vehicle, auto, etc)
- Hydraulic experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Proficient with Microsoft office
- Managing multiple inquires and prioritize accordingly (Project Management Skills)
- Creation and maintenance of quality documents and work instructions
- Self-motivated with excellent organization skills
