Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Systems, direct hire
The Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Systems will contribute to the design of custom production processing equipment used in the cGMP creation, processing and delivery of radioisotopes. The individual will join the Isotope Production Equipment Engineering Development team and contribute to design and development activities focused on identifying, developing, and implementing mechanical solutions to support the current and future product portfolio.
Responsibilities for the Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Systems
Perform and assist in detailed mechanical design and analysis of precision components from a variety of materials and production processes
Create and modify complex mechanical systems
Integrate commercial and custom accelerator hardware to further NorthStar’s mission
Develop internal P& IDs and PFDs for new target cooling systems within NorthStar’s accelerator-based radioisotope processing systems
Manage budget, schedule, design and equipment deliverables from capital equipment vendors
Use ANSYS to conduct FEA/CFD simulations on new and existing designs
Requirements Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Systems
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering degree and 1-3 years of mechanical engineering experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years’ experience with development of mechanical systems in a regulated environment (medical, pharmaceutical, automotive, aerospace); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SolidWorks, ANSYS, 2D mechanical drawings, piping & flow diagrams, and working in an FDA regulated environment industrial cooling systems, vacuum and/or helium systems, and knowledge of particle accelerator technology preferred.
