Description for Process Engineer:

The Process Engineer will be responsible for leading and assisting with continuous improvement projects related to safety, quality, production, or new product launches. Responsible for the creation of project charters, allocating or requesting resources, and ensuring project deadlines are met. Process Engineer with also identify and develop processes and recommend equipment needed to produce specific products, parts, and components. Create a cross-functional team approach by working with all business units to promote a continuous improvement culture. 

Responsibilities for Process Engineer:

  • Support plant and work with plant processes, machine programming, line efficiencies, layouts, etc. (Lean initiatives)
  • Assist with new production cell, process design, layout design
  • Corrective actions / preventive actions such as mistake-proofing, poke-yoke, visual aids, training, etc. 
  • Research and validate new tooling, machines, testing, or technology for production
  • Complete capability studies on new tooling and machines
  • Time studies and line balancing (Yamazumi charts, takt time calculations, etc.)
  • Value-stream mapping 
  • Assist with or lead various continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, or production 
  • Identify and create project charters for potential areas of improvement within Julian Electric Inc. 
  • Create and present a deliverable summary of completed projects
  • Be an active member of the APQP team, ensuring the quality launch of new products
  • Be an active member of the cross-functional team in the creation and ongoing updates of the PF, PFMEA, and CP documentation
  • Support production team on any safety, quality, or process-related concerns
  • Stop production if non-conforming goods are produced
  • Actively participates and promotes continuous improvement culture
  • Be an active member of the safety team
  • Maintain a proactive approach by staying current on best practices, engineering standards, and technology

Requirements for Process Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • At least 2 years of professional experience as either a manufacturing engineer, quality engineer, or process engineer working in a manufacturing setting
  • Solid knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts
  • Experience working in ISO 9001 quality system, experience in IATF-16949 and ISO14001 is highly preferred
  • Ability to ready and interpret technical schematics and drawings
  • Solid understanding of formal root-cause analysis techniques
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Project management skill set
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, energetic, and enthusiastic personality
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively 

Desired for Process Engineer:

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
  • Experience with AIAG Core Tools: FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA and SPC
  • Value Stream Mapping experience
  • Prior experience setting up new manufacturing lines
  • Prior experience with manufacturing equipment installation and validation
