Description for Procurement Analyst:
The Procurement Analyst reporting to the Global Purchasing Manager is responsible for the procurement of direct materials and limited subcontract services, management of vendors, and monitoring the flow of goods and services in our supply chain from quotation and acquisition up to final fulfillment. Strong data and analytical skills are critical to the success of efficiently managing the buyer workbench. Key metrics managed by the Senior Buyer include Vendor Scorecards (Quality, OnTime Delivery, Pricing, Responsiveness). Additional participation in strategic cost savings and process improvement activities would also be expected.
Responsibilities for Procurement Analyst:
- Utilize MRP software to determine material needs
- Prepare requests for quote (RFQ’s) and purchase orders (PO’s)
- Analyze costs and negotiate prices for goods and services
- Monitor existing orders to ensure on time deliveries
- Communicate with brokers / vendors, including conference video/phone calls (primarily Teams Meetings) regarding delivery schedules, quality issues
- Participate in at least one weekly evening call with overseas teams and suppliers
- Seek out new suppliers to improve strategic goals to improve our supply base and reduce risk (costs – including tariffs, lead times, and alignment)
Requirements for Procurement Analyst:
- Bachelor of Science; (Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Computer/Data Science) or equivalent work experience in supply chain / operations required; Master of Science preferred
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP software and assembly workflow as related to supply chain management
- Data / Analytics background to assist with report building / data analysis, performance monitoring and process automation (ex: Power BI)
- Previous experience connecting data to improve efficiency, automation, and complexity within a supply chain
- Ability to understand bills of materials (BOMs) and navigate engineering drawings (part tables/component lists)
- Previous experience working as a buyer or equivalent role with direct spend management
- Global sourcing experience particularly with Mexico and Asia a plus
- APICS certification nice to have
- Operations / manufacturing / warehousing experience a plus
- Ability to meet with and travel to vendor sites as needed on a limited basis
- Strong problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Previous role/experience leading teams or direct reports a positive
- Bi-Lingual (Mandarin or Spanish) nice to have
