Description for Product Engineer:
The Product Engineer is responsible for supporting new product design and development, maintaining legacy products, and providing technical expertise to customers and manufacturing. Key duties include hands-on support in testing and prototyping, creating and evaluating test plans, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of returned goods. They assist in the design of rotating electrical equipment, ensure parts meet specifications, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities for Product Engineer:
- Provide technical support for both new and legacy electric machine development.
- Assist in the design and development of rotating electrical equipment (mechanical and electrical), using company-specific design software.
- Conduct failure analysis for returned materials, including warranty claims and customer requests.
- Evaluate parts that do not meet drawing or process specifications and contribute to the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.
- Set production testing requirements for rotating electrical products.
- Analyze test data, interpret results, and prepare detailed reports.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as design-to-cost and LEAN practices.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies.
Requirements for Product Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electric motor design, testing, and support.
- Strong knowledge and experience in electric motor theory and design, with expertise in 3-phase AC induction and DC motors. Familiarity with other motor types, such as Permanent Magnet and Axial Flux, is a plus.
- Proven ability to identify and solve complex problems by analyzing relevant data, evaluating options, and implementing effective solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with colleagues and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
- Advanced computer proficiency, including a strong working knowledge of engineering software and MS Office tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with a track record of meeting deadlines and delivering accurate, detail-oriented work.
