Description for Sr. Project Engineer – Technical Project Manager:

Our client is currently seeking an experienced, hands-on Project Manager / Project Engineer to lead an 18-month Model-Based Enterprise R&D Demonstration project within our Research & Development Projects team. The client has multiple ongoing research projects in the areas of Industry 4.0, Supply Chain, Digital Twins, Future Factory, Systems Integration, and Cybersecurity. You will be part of the team responsible for developing and leading this R&D project to help America’s factories tackle grand challenges. 
 
In this role, you will plan, schedule, drive, and communicate 21-19 project status to the company stakeholders and report to the Director of R&D Projects. This project focuses on establishing a framework for a digital thread that consists of reengineering and fabricating components and assemblies using modern technical data packages (e.g., MBD) by small-medium manufacturers. The components and assemblies will then be analyzed to ensure they meet the customer’s specifications, standards, and regulations.

Responsibilities for for Sr. Project Engineer – Technical Project Manager:

  • Effectively project manage the Model-Based Enterprise R&D Demonstration project; project team consists of organizations under contract with the company 
  • Work with DoD and Industry experts to identify and resolve technical issues related to project execution
  • Lead project planning and development of documents associated with project execution, including requests for proposals, budget, statements of work, deliverables, schedules, reporting requirements, and intellectual property assertions 
  • Efficiently execute project work in alignment with Statement of Work (SOW) obligations
  • Drive regular project team meetings: capturing action items, owners, and updates
  • Regularly communicate project status to stakeholders with risks, deviations to baseline, and mitigation plans
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements for Sr. Project Engineer – Technical Project Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline preferred; other technical bachelor’s degrees will be considered
  • Six to ten years of engineering product development experience plus three to five years of technical project management experience
  • Experience in a technical environment including engineering, product development, and/or manufacturing; experience with digital manufacturing technologies preferred
  • Experience with Product Life Cycle (PLM) and design tools
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interface at all levels of an organization, including the executive levels of both the company and companies  commercial and academic partners
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, and committed to the advancement of manufacturing technologies
  • Self-driven with the ability to work in a highly dynamic environment
  • Government project and contracting experience preferred
  • Availability/willingness to travel domestically at least once per quarter
  • Proficient with MS Office and MS Project; familiar with Monday.com, Slack, Trello, and/or MS Teams
  • Desired but not required: PMP, ScrumMaster, or other Project Management certification
