Description for Sr. Materials Planner:
The Senior Material Planner is responsible for purchasing parts, under the direction of the Parts Purchasing Supervisor and in coordination with the Lead Material Planner. All work follows generally prescribed routines, although this is an individual contributor role this Sr. Materials Planner may be tasked with supervision of Jr material planners and service techs.
Responsibilities for Sr. Materials Planner:
- Create, review and update assigned purchase orders accurately and per defined schedule
- Perform pricing, quantity, and other required validation of purchase orders prior to finalization
- Within established guidelines, makes material planning decisions related to order quantities, frequency and shipment method
- Review & update PO’s when required and assure confirmation status
- Track & confirm deliveries of assigned PO materials
- Continuously monitor past due status and reconcile discrepancies with suppliers
- Maintain high accuracy of PO data & processing
- Take action to expedite backordered, past due, and/or out of stock materials/orders as necessary
- Research receiving discrepancies to resolve quantity issues
- Maintain material master data as back up to Material Analyst
- Research accounting discrepancies to resolve pricing issues
- Maintain various spreadsheets and other data records by extracting, combining, updating, and creating new spreadsheets
- Assist department in maintaining up to date supplier information
- Manage special projects as assigned
- Make copies, fax documents, perform other clerical functions and duties as assigned
- Maintain an organized and secure work environment
- Support co-workers in other departments as needed
- Inform Manager of all noteworthy activities
Requirements for Sr. Materials Planner:
- Associates Degree or equivalent
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems; preferably with SAP
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- 3-5 years purchasing, supply chain or inventory management experience
- SAP experience 2-3 years
- ERP Experience
- MS Office Suite – Includes Excel functions such as Vlookup and PIVOT.
- ABC inventory management
- Experience with purchasing processes, and supply chain management
- Knowledge of inventory management standards and practices
