Description for Director of Engineering:

The Director of Engineering will lead, mentor, and manage engineers in mechanical design, electrical hardware, firmware, and software, with teams based in the USA and India. The Director will oversee functional leads in the U.S., as well as an Engineering General Manager in India, who manages the India team. This role involves collaborating across departments to define product requirements, development timelines, and deliverables while overseeing the entire product lifecycle from concept to manufacturing. The Director will develop strategies to ensure timely product delivery, drive technical excellence, and manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and budgets. They will foster a culture of innovation and ensure compliance with industry standards, while staying current with technological advancements and mitigating risks in product development.

Responsibilities for Director of Engineering: 

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers in mechanical engineering, electrical hardware design, firmware, and software.
  • Collaborate with department teams and individuals across the client to define product requirements, development timelines, and deliverables.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure timely delivery of new products.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from proof of concept to manufacturing.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and budget adherence.
  • Drive technical excellence and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with product development projects.
  • Stay current with technological advancements and industry trends to ensure the competitiveness of our products.

Requirements for Director of Engineering: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the engineering department of a manufacturing company 
  • Strong background in either mechanical engineering, electrical hardware design, firmware, or software development
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver products or projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically and drive technical innovation
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies
  • Develops strong working relationships with internal stakeholders
