Description for Technical Product Manager: 

The Technical Product Manager plays a vital cross-functional role in leading product development initiatives and providing deep technical support to both internal teams and external stakeholders. This individual spearheads projects through the Product Development Process, coordinating across departments, managing timelines, budgets, and deliverables, and ensuring all technical aspects align with strategic goals. The Technical Product Manager also supports field applications, resolves technical customer issues, writes technical documentation, and proactively addresses product improvements through analysis of returns and component obsolescence. 

Responsibilities for Technical Product Manager:

  • Lead and manage projects through Client’s Product Development Process (50%)
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to keep projects on track
    • Oversee technical and execution aspects of bids and proposals
    • Develop detailed execution plans and schedules aligned with program goals
    • Proactively anticipate and mitigate project risks and issues
    • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) in new and updated products
    • Review product designs and support effective test solution development
    • Monitor and maintain key project metrics: timelines, deliverables, and costs
    • Serve as project gatekeeper, ensuring stakeholder-ready information
    • Document and resolve stakeholder concerns throughout project stages
  • Analyze product failure and component obsolescence through the RMA process to prevent future issues and support end-of-life planning (10%)
  • Assist the sales team by providing technical expertise to resolve customer product issues (10%)
  • Write and publish technical documentation for existing and new products (5%)
  • Maintain industry knowledge through ongoing education, publications, and networking (15%)
  • Contribute to team goals by supporting special projects and completing tasks as assigned (10%)

Requirements for Technical Product Manager: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (any field)
  • Intermediate to expert computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and meeting facilitation skills
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and perform under pressure
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive planner
  • Ability to make sound technical and business decisions
  • Self-motivated with the ability to learn on the job and solve problems

 

Nice to Have for Technical Product Manager:

  • Master’s degree
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • 5–10+ years of experience in HVAC/R sensor and wireless technologies (e.g., BLE, Zigbee, IoT)
  • 3+ years of experience working with electronics
  • 3+ years of experience managing projects
  • Experience with wireless products and working directly with customers
  • Android and iOS experience
  • Knowledge of HVAC/R systems, especially:
  • Temperature measurement and indication
  • Humidity measurement and indication
  • Carbon dioxide (CO₂) measurement and indication
  • Volatile organic compound (VOC) measurement and indication
  • Carbon monoxide (CO) measurement and indication
  • Passion for networking and cloud technologies
  • Proven ability to drive and motivate teams
  • Experience attending educational workshops or maintaining industry knowledge through ongoing learning
