Description for EDR Designer:
The EDR Designer supports the Product Engineering team by developing and updating 2D drawings and 3D CAD models used in product design and manufacturing. They play a key role in processing engineering change orders, ensuring that design updates are accurate and aligned with company standards. The role also involves collaborating with engineers, communicating with internal departments and occasionally customers to clarify design intent, and contributing to the overall quality and efficiency of engineering documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities for EDR Designer:
- Creates new drawings and 3D CAD models and makes drawing changes for processing engineering change orders.
- Ensures quality of drawings and CAD models; analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
- Interface with customers as necessary to clarify design objectives on projects and communicate updates to Sales Department.
- Adhere to DPG production release procedures.
- Continue education to stay current on the latest technologies. Maintains technical knowledge by conferring with technical specialists and suppliers; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Performing other duties as assigned or directed.
- Reading and understanding the company safety policies.
Requirements for EDR Designer:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering Technology / CAD and 3+ years of experience in design and development of mechanical systems
- 3+ year experience using 3D CAD software (Solid Edge preferred)
- Experience with MS Office applications (i.e. MS Word & Excel)
- Strong intrapersonal skills - ability thrive in a team oriented, creative, and collaborative environment.
- Sound knowledge of engineering design principles.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances
