Buyer (Direct hire)
Location – LaGrange, GA
Requisition: 7517
Annual Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 base salary plus bonus.
Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
Summaryfor Buyer
This position requires planning, organizing, purchasing and estimating to secure products and services at competitive cost and acceptable quality, and competitive delivery levels consistent with company policy and performance standards.
Responsibilitiesfor Buyer
- Procurement: Place purchase orders and authorize payments based on agreed-upon terms.
- Data Analysis: Review backlog and determine purchase and EOQ based on history and forecast.
- MRP: Review planned orders and action messages. Extensive knowledge of MRP framework expected
- Supplier Relationship Management: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
- Cost Optimization: Analyzing cost trends and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with internal stakeholders, such as production, engineering, inside sales and finance, to understand their needs and prioritize purchases.
- Market Research: Conducting research to stay informed about market trends, new products, and potential suppliers.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Working with suppliers to promote sustainable sourcing practices and reduce the environmental impact of the supply chain.
- Process Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvements to the supply chain process.
Additional specific tasks
- Issuing Requests for Quotations (RFQs), analyzing proposals, and negotiating pricing and delivery terms
- Locate suppliers potentially suited to meet the company’s requirements for price, quality, and delivery
- Manage assigned supplier base and drive cost reductions goals while adhering to company KPI’s; generate and communicate forecast to key suppliers
- Monitoring supplier performance through quality assessments, including lead times, quality, and compliance with contractual agreements and address issues to ensure smooth operations
- Research and recommend substitute or alternative items or supply
- Identifying and addressing any issues or potential disruptions in the supply chain
- Utilizing ERP systems and procurement software to manage and release planned purchase orders
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies
- Communicating effectively with suppliers and internal teams regarding material availability and supply issues
- Ability to read drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and part specifications
Requirementsfor Buyer
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree with focus on Business is preferred.
- Experience: Three to five years’ purchasing experience.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Office; CRM Software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
- Licenses: Active CPM or CPIM, CSPC or related certification preferred
