Annual Salary Range: $135,000 - $195,000 base salary. Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
Summary for Engineering Manager
The Engineering Manager reports to the Data Center Engineering Manager and is located at the Dallas, TX facility. She/he works within the Engineering Department to lead the design of assigned Data Center cooling products. He or she is responsible for the supervision of assigned supervisors, designers and engineers.
Responsibilities for Engineering Manager
- Directly manage a team of 1-2 engineering supervisors and 1-2 engineers, overseeing the design activity and design output of the group. Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and ensure the team's success in delivering high-quality results.
- Oversee engineering launch activities for awarded business. This includes: overseeing of customer submittals with all required documentation, release of design and drawings for the product for prototype and production, successful completion of all customer and regulatory required testing for customer acceptance in the field.
- Oversee the preliminary design for cost estimating and quoting for pursuit of new business. This role is specifically responsible for owning engineering NRE, validation expenses, and should-cost estimates for materials created by the engineering supervisors and team.
- Contribute to VA/VE initiatives to reduce product cost and improve manufacturability of responsible products.
- Address any customer field concerns by developing engineered solutions to solve the issue and prevent recurrence.
- Evaluate and design electromechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and materials.
- Interface with other regions, manufacturing locations, suppliers, and customers.
- Assist the manufacturing team in developing manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
- Support team member development through training initiatives, mentorship programs, and performance management. Foster a culture of continuous learning and career growth.
- Travel domestically or internationally up to 25%.
Requirements for Engineering Manager
- The minimum requirement is a college graduate in engineering or related technical discipline with 8-12 years engineering experience, or a master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, with 3+ years engineering supervisory experience.
- Strong fundamental background and/or experience in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, psychometrics, and design for manufacturing.
- The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous engineering leadership experience (5+ years)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Thermodynamics, Fluid dynamics, and Refrigeration Systems
- Experience with designing products for manufacturing at scale
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external personnel
- Project management experience
- High level of initiative and positive work ethic
- Organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail
- Strong analysis and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems and the ability to interpret FEA & CFD results
