Description for Manufacturing Engineer:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting, developing, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production operations. This role works closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges, support continuous improvement initiatives, and optimize process performance. Depending on experience level, the engineer will either support process improvements under the guidance of senior staff or independently lead manufacturing projects, troubleshoot production issues, and implement process enhancements that improve quality, productivity, and operational performance.

Responsibilities for Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Support existing manufacturing processes to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency targets are achieved.
  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput, quality, and cost performance.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and process flow maps.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret production data including scrap, cycle time, downtime, and other key performance metrics.
  • Participate in troubleshooting production issues and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Assist with or lead new product introductions, including process setup, validation, documentation, and production readiness activities.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve day-to-day manufacturing challenges.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and process evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support tooling, fixture, and equipment selection to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Participate in capital equipment evaluations, justification, implementation, and startup activities.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for Manufacturing Engineer:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations.
  • Experience analyzing production data and identifying process improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing and production-related issues.
  • Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting or leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions and process validation activities.
  • Experience with tooling, fixtures, manufacturing equipment, or automation systems.
  • CAD experience, including Inventor or AutoCAD.
  • Experience working with capital equipment projects and manufacturing process optimization.
