Applications Engineer (Hybrid - Direct Hire)

Annual Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 plus bonus.
Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
Summary
Serves customer base and offsite account managers by analyzing RFQ (Request for Quote) and customer specifications, preparing costing documents and technical written proposals for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and EMP (Equipment Modernization Projects). Complete proposals require inclusion of costing and gross margin data and technical presentations such as mechanical drawings and layouts to support comprehensive technical solutions for the customer.
Responsibilities
- Review request for quotation (RFQ) for clarification and definition. Contacting offsite account managers and customers for further clarification and definition.
- Review “provided” customer specifications (mechanical drawings and technical write-ups) for scope of supply analysis.
- Develop new technical proposals.
- Design and/or draw concepts to meet customer requirements via CAD (20% of proposals prepared required).
- Acquire costing data for computing margin pricing via company computer systems and programs.
- Calculate selling price according to company guidelines, procedures, and processes.
- Maintain organized proposal logs and files in company designated databases.
- Create and maintain full costing traceability and accuracy.
- Develop and implement customer specific proposals.
- Technical assistance to offsite account managers.
- Meeting scheduled deadlines.
- Participate in company constant improvement programs.
- Perform special projects and duties as required.
Requirements
- Relevant bachelor's degree (four-year college or university) in engineering
- 2 – 5 years of relevant experience putting together very detailed and technical proposals for anything manufacturing
- Knowledgeable in MS programs (i.e., Excel, Word), database programs, and CAD. Basic macro computer language skills a plus.
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Mechanical drawing reading and basic algebra calculation skills are a requirement. Competitive product knowledge a plus.
