Description for Director of Engineering:
Our client is an OEM for automated packaging systems, offering full line, turnkey solutions to boost packaging efficiency; they offer innovative technology and expertise, helping businesses overcome packaging challenges, meet increased demand, and transition to new formats.
As the director of engineering, you will lead and manage a team of engineers across four disciplines: applications engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and R&D engineering. You will oversee the design development, testing and implementation of innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions for our clients.
Responsibilities for Director of Engineer:
- Develop and execute the engineering strategy and vision for the company
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers (6+)
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Coordinate and oversee the engineering projects
- Research and evaluate new technologies, methods, and materials, and implement them into the engineering processes and products.
- Collaborate with other directors, managers, and stakeholders, to communicate engineering progress, issues, and solutions.
- Execute complete resolution matters - managing & executing engineering projects end-to-end.
- Represent the engineering department in external meetings, presentations, and negotiations with clients, suppliers, and partners.
- Review overall contractual requirements for projects and process methodology
- Influence engineering department and drive business strategies and plans
- Develop and monitor departmental metrics and quarterly goals
- Introduce capacity planning methods and proactively monitor
- Drive engagement within engineering department and connectivity to the organization
- Evaluate and improve systems and processes to effectively meet project requirements and profitability goals
- Implement staffing strategies
- Active involvement in developing & simplifying new products & setting timelines
Requirements for Director of Engineering:
- Packaging, Automation or Material Handling OR related space
- Direct management of engineers
- Customer engagement
- Comfortable working for a smaller OEM
