Description for Hardware Test Engineer:

The Test Engineer will ensure product quality and reliability by evaluating hardware performance and identifying improvements. This role involves designing and conducting product verification tests, analyzing test results, supporting factory test automation, and validating firmware releases. The engineer plays a key role in ensuring products meet performance standards, are released on schedule, and exceed customer expectations. 

Responsibilities for Hardware Test Engineer: 

  • Production test
    • Develop procedures, methods, and tools for test, verification and certification of company products.
    • Design and maintain test fixtures used in Production
    • Specify hardware and software for Production testing
    • Automate data gathering for Quality Assurance
    • Verify and validate new product hardware
  • Evaluate new product for DFM (Design For Manufacturability)
    • Assist and perform tests during product development for the Design Engineers 
    • Create accurate Test Plans and Reports on final design
    • Specify hardware and software for budgetary concerns
  • Test procedures
    • Write complete test procedures
    • Train Manufacturing team
    • Monitor testing done by others
    • Update and modify test processes and procedures as needed
    • Analysis of Production test data
  • Prepare reports on test results, constraints, problems
    • Maintain records and files of all work as directed
    • Participate in Root Cause Analysis when repetitive failure of company products occurs
  • Maintain industry knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; reviewing related publications; establishing networks.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects and tasks as delegated supervisor.

Requirements for Hardware Test Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Physics, or equivalent Engineering Degree 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an engineer, ideally has been a test engineer for two years 
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and power supplies
  • Knowledge of analog OR digital OR PCB, and power circuitry 
  • Able to read detailed schematics, blueprints, etc. 
  • Experience with handling several projects simultaneously in various stages of completion 
  • Microsoft Office knowledge 
  • Good communication skills. Has the ability to communicate effectively with team members, non-technical stakeholders, and customers 
  • Team Player 
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision

 

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of and experience in the HVAC industry
  • Knowledge of and experience in the electronics industry 
  • Wireless Technology (WIFI, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Cellular) 
  • Regulatory Compliance testing
  • Network Topology protocol
  • Programming knowledge of National Instruments Development Suite and LabVIEW
  • Experience designing and developing test programs and equipment
  • Experience and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access)
  • Two years of experience as a Test Engineer
  • Technical Writing
  • Component evaluation
