Our client is seeking a contract engineer to join the team at the Cedarburg, WI manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for a hands-on, results-driven professional with a passion for improving manufacturing operations and driving cost savings. The engineer will play a critical role in identifying and executing continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on lean initiatives, scrap reduction, process optimization, time-studies, and throughput enhancement. This is a highly impactful role where your contributions will directly support the plant’s operational efficiency and bottom-line performance.
The ideal candidate will bring an engineering background (discipline flexible) along with proven experience in lean manufacturing, process improvements, and cost-reduction strategies. Key responsibilities include conducting time studies, updating bills of materials (BOMs), and maintaining accurate routings within an ERP system—preferably SAP. The position also involves cleaning and validating legacy production data to ensure alignment with current operations. Requirements for Manufacturing Engineer (Continuous Improvement Consultant):
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- 3-5 years’ manufacturing experience in optimizing manufacturing facilities, equipment, and processes
- Experience with continuous improvement and scrap reduction
- Background in cost savings including:
- Scrap reduction
- Continuous Improvement/Lean Initiatives
- Manufacturing/Process improvements to increase throughput
- Background with BOM and Routings in an ERP/ Microsoft Dynamics AX system
- Conducting Time Studies
- Create Value Streams to assess efficiency
- Updating BOMs and Routes in an ERP system
- Cleaning up old data
- Able to create business cases with ROI and cost benefits
Nice to Havefor Manufacturing Engineer (Continuous Improvement Consultant):
- Extrusion experience would be a plus
- Experience with 5S and Kanban
