Description for Manufacturing Engineering Manager:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will play a key leadership role in optimizing manufacturing processes, enhancing product quality, and driving operational efficiency across the organization. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity where you can have a meaningful impact by developing talent, driving process improvements, and championing engineering excellence. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in electrical or manufacturing engineering, along with experience leading teams in a production environment, particularly in electronics or complex assembly operations.
The Manufacturing Engineering team currently consists of four engineers, each aligned with specific manufacturing areas or products. As the team’s leader, you will provide guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction while fostering individual ownership and accountability. This role is well-suited for someone who is passionate about growing engineering teams and driving continuous improvement through collaboration, data, and innovation.
Responsibilities for Manufacturing Engineering Manager:
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers. Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Process Improvement: Oversee and drive improvements to manufacturing processes that reduce waste, increase efficiency, and boost product quality.
- Production Support: Serve as the primary technical resource for production support, helping the team troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues swiftly.
- Assembly Optimization: Guide the design and implementation of tools, fixtures, and automation solutions to enhance both manual and electronics assembly.
- Quality Assurance: Partner with quality and engineering teams to ensure all manufacturing processes align with rigorous quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Documentation, Calibration & Equipment Oversight: Ensure proper documentation of all manufacturing processes, and oversee calibration and maintenance of production equipment
- Cross-functional Project Management: Lead and participate in cross-functional initiatives to introduce new products, scale up production, or improve manufacturing capabilities.
- Data-driven Decision Making: Leverage production and quality data to identify trends, assess performance, and inform continuous improvement efforts.
- Training & Knowledge Transfer: Support skill development across the production floor by implementing effective training programs and standard operating procedures.
Requirements for Manufacturing Engineering Manager:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing leadership role, ideally supporting electronics, instrumentation, or complex assembly environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering projects and cross-functional teams from concept through implementation.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, process optimization, and working in regulated or quality-focused environments is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across engineering, production, and quality teams.
