Description for Mechanical Design Engineer:
The engineer will design, document, and oversee the implementation of complex mechanical solutions tailored to customer operations in warehouse and manufacturing environments. Responsibilities include participating in discovery meetings to define requirements, developing detailed conveyor system designs, managing vendor RFPs, selecting and procuring equipment, and creating comprehensive drawing packages for customer approval and installation. The position also involves coordinating with project management, electrical, and software engineering teams during system commissioning and ensuring designs meet quality standards.
Responsibilities for Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Participate in discovery meetings to understand the customer’s use case, business requirements, and growth assumptions.
- Design cost effective, comprehensive mechanical solution inclusive of conveyor and all peripheral equipment necessary to satisfy the requirements of the business case.
- Present comprehensive engineered solution to internal stakeholders linking design elements to specific customer requirements.
- Create and manage request for proposals (RFP’s) across various vendors for engineered equipment and installation services.
- Select and order mechanical equipment that satisfies project design needs, budget and schedule.
- Develop detailed drawing packages for customer approval and mechanical installation.
- Document changes and revise drawings as required.
- Oversee vendors and contractors to ensure your design is properly understood and implemented.
- Support all other internal disciplines, including project management, electrical engineering and software engineering with system commissioning.
- Uphold client’s current standard of quality and drive continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements for Job Title:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.)
- Minimum 3 years of mechanical conveyor solution design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
- Ability to travel up to 30% as project needs
