Description for Mechanical Engineer:

The Mechanical Engineer role is responsible for leading both sustaining engineering efforts and new product development projects from concept through production. The position involves designing and developing mechanical components and systems, creating detailed CAD models and drawings with proper GD&T, supporting prototyping and testing, and transitioning designs into manufacturable hardware. The engineer collaborates cross-functionally with electrical, software, manufacturing, sales, suppliers, and customers to ensure design compatibility, performance, and cost objectives are met. Responsibilities also include reviewing engineering analyses, supporting fixture design and test plans, conducting root cause investigations for production or field issues, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, preparing technical documentation, and providing technical support for both new and legacy products while adhering to established release-to-production protocols.

Responsibilities for Mechanical Engineer: 

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems
  • Create detailed engineering drawings with proper tolerances and GD&T in compliance with industry standards.
  • Review engineering analysis (stress, thermal, vibration) 
  • Support prototyping and testing of new designs, including fixture design and test plans.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure design compatibility and manufacturability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for field or production issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in product design, cost reduction, and quality.
  • Prepare technical documentation including BOMs, specifications, and assembly instructions.
  • Interface with vendors and suppliers on material selection, fabrication methods, and component sourcing.
  • Select materials and coordinate with manufacturing, the methods to be used in assembly
  • Provide support to both internal and external customers in use/application of new/legacy product
  • Provide technical support to sales department for quotes, customer service and special design/ price requests
  • Test and evaluate designs and provide product specifications or test data as required, interpret test data so design meets specifications (including possibility of performing data reduction/ report writing)
  • Recommend new products and/or modifications and improve existing products
  • Interface with customers as necessary to clarify design objectives on projects and         communicate updates to sales department
  • Adhere to client’s release to production protocols
  • Stay current on latest technologies with continuing education
  • Read and understand the company safety policies

Requirements for Mechanical Engineer:

  • 3–10 years of mechanical engineering experience in product design and development
  • Experience supporting both sustaining engineering and new product development projects
  • Strong background in sheet metal and/or structural steel design (vibration, shock loading, or structural performance considerations)
  • Proficiency in CAD design and creation of detailed drawings with GD&T
  • Experience supporting prototyping, testing, and transition to production
  • Strong understanding of materials selection and design for manufacturability
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve production or field issues

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with FMEA
  • CFD and/or thermal dynamics knowledge
  • Experience working with castings
  • Knowledge of electric motors and related mechanical integration
