Description for Product and Application Engineer:
The Product & Application Engineer to serve as the technical execution and production leader. This role will oversee product design activities including BOMs, drawings, ordering, and inventory, while applying technical concept development, testing, and intellectual property strategies. The engineer will support design and production engineering, manage inventory and critical materials, and provide operational and technical rigor to deliver innovative solutions. Over time, this position will develop into a subject matter expert role, supporting client’s growing customer base and future product applications.
Responsibilities for Product and Application Engineer:
• Perform advanced application development and hands-on testing of products, while fostering innovative techniques and methodologies for current and future product families and IP• Manage transition of products from R&D to prototype development, testing, and eventual production• Oversee production, product line quality testing, and factory acceptance testing• Interface with engineering technical groups to preserve design authority by maintaining product BOMs, design drawings, and manuals• Manage component inventory, coordinate ordering of essential materials, and support demand planning with sales, engineering, and production teams• Review research initiatives and products for new methods to enhance IP and future product opportunities• Support training of field personnel and assist with customer production requests
Requirements for Product and Application Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline
- Three or more years of production and/or manufacturing experience
- Hands-on experience in applied technical development, including R&D, prototype builds, testing, and transition to production
- Ability to manage and maintain technical design drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and product documentation
- Experience managing product component inventory and coordinating ordering of essential materials
- Knowledge of production quality testing, factory acceptance testing, and product validation
- Strong ability to present and discuss complex technical concepts clearly and engage stakeholders
- Demonstrated skills in strategy planning, organization, stakeholder engagement, and leading teams through change
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
Nice to Have:
- Product application development and production certification experience
- Hardware design experience
- Hands-on wiring and electrical engineering or equivalent
- Advanced ability to present and discuss technical information in a persuasive and engaging way
