Contract Product Engineer

Location: Akron, OHType: ContractIndustry: Medical Products / Manufacturing 

We are seeking a Contract Product Engineer to support new product development and process improvement efforts at our Akron, OH manufacturing facility. This role will focus on products involving liquid latex formulationtubing dip processes, and compound development—ideal for an engineer with a background in formulation chemistry and hands-on process optimization in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support new product development projects from concept through production, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and business goals
  • Develop and optimize formulations for liquid latex-based products, ensuring quality, consistency, and performance
  • Support tubing dip and compounding processes, providing technical expertise for scale-up and process validation
  • Participate in cross-functional business meetings to evaluate and prioritize product and process opportunities
  • Assist in developing and improving processes needed to efficiently manufacture new and existing products
  • Perform technical reviews to ensure compliance with design control, customer requirements, and internal standards
  • Drive improvements in manufacturing efficiencyLEAN initiatives, and process validation
  • Evaluate and qualify new raw materials and support troubleshooting of issues in both Akron and Malaysia facilities
  • Create, maintain, and review controlled documentation, including BOPs, SOPs, Formula Cards, and design control records
  • Train production staff on new or modified materials, processes, and equipment
  • Provide technical support to Marketing, QA, and Customer Service on product applications, complaints, and testing criteria
  • Monitor emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to product lines
  • Conduct lab testing using a variety of analytical equipment for R&D and troubleshooting

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in product development, compounding, or process engineering
  • Hands-on experience with liquid latex formulation, dip molding (tubing processes), and compounding
  • Proficient in technical documentation and design control within a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and validation protocols
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with teams across Engineering, Production, Quality, and Marketing
