Description for Project Engineer:

As the Project Engineer, you will focus on planning, managing, and maintaining production methods for forming and welding equipment, specifically laser, plasma, and resistance welding technologies. You will collaborate with various engineering functions and departments, including production, quality, purchasing, planning, and maintenance to lead CapEx equipment installation projects. Your projects will aim to enhance safety, improve product quality, increase process efficiency, and positively impact the company’s bottom line.

Responsibilities for Project Engineer:

  • Assessing equipment, processes, and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Implementing changes and adjusting operational standards to meet production goals.
  • Evaluating vendor proposals for new equipment and selecting appropriate solutions.
  • Optimizing current and new manufacturing processes by applying continuous improvement methods.
  • Collaborating with production and maintenance teams to keep equipment in like-new condition.
  • Conducting Capability and Time Studies to analyze process performance.
  • Supporting process development, which may include creating visual work instructions.
  • Providing daily production support and troubleshooting process-related issues.
  • Leading initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and cycle time, contributing to cost reduction.
  • Specifying tools, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinating projects and participating in daily troubleshooting efforts.
  • Actively participating in Kaizen events to foster continuous improvement.

 

Requirements for Engineer:

  • BS in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or combined related experience required
  • 5+ years leading CAPEX equipment installation projects 
  • Strong validation experience 
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis
  • Must be capable of taking a project lead role and comfortable in a fast-moving continuous improvement culture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks with aggressive deadlines
  • The ideal candidate is detail orientated and can understand complex process interactions
  • Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office
  • Nice to Have:
  • Creo & AutoCAD a strong plus
