Description for Quality Engineer:
The Quality Engineer role is responsible for developing and leading a quality management system that ensures both internal operations and external suppliers meet defined quality standards aligned with our client’s corporate policies. The QE will work closely with operational leaders and cross-functional teams to implement and monitor effective quality processes, manage supplier oversight—including audits and first article inspections—and act as the lead for third-party certifications such as UL and CSA. A key aspect of the role involves building a culture of continuous improvement through disciplined problem-solving and root cause analysis. Additionally, the QE will own and maintain Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) procedures while supporting broader business objectives through measurable quality performance and accountability.
Responsibilities for Quality Engineer:
- Define and establish a quality system for managing both internal and external (supplier) quality requirements aligned with client’s corporate policies.
- Work directly with operational leadership to manage quality outputs/results in alignment with business objectives.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure effective quality processes are employed and tracked throughout the organization, including supplier oversight, i.e., supplier quality audits and first article inspections.
- Be the point of contact and leader for external audits including 3P certifications, i.e., CSA, UL, Intertek, etc. and be the owner for resolving any associated findings.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement to ensure discipline in problem identification and investigation with effective mitigation of root cause issues.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining robust EH&S processes and procedures.
- Other responsibilities as assigned or defined by the Management System.
Requirements for Quality Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering management, electronics, or other applicable area of major
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a production environment holding positions of progressive responsibility
- Experience assisting or leading internal and external/supplier audits
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all organizational levels
- Proven analytical ability and familiarity with a KPI-driven operations environment
- Proven ability to facilitate and solve problems in a team environment
- Experience managing regulatory requirements and certifications, i.e. UL, CSA
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
