Description for Quality Engineer:
The Quality Engineer will ensure that all products manufactured in a mixed environment of manual assembly and surface mount technology meet the company’s high standards for quality and reliability. The Quality Engineer will oversee product integrity throughout the manufacturing process by managing customer complaints, conducting root cause investigations, and implementing corrective and preventative actions. Working closely with design and manufacturing engineering teams, as well as suppliers, the Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of rugged, dependable products that reinforce the company’s commitment to safety and performance in critical applications.
Responsibilities for Quality Engineer:
- Customer Complaints: Lead investigations into customer complaints and field failures; document findings and drive resolution.
- Root Cause Analysis: Use tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams and FMEA internally.
- Corrective Actions: Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
- Supplier Performance: Monitor supplier quality performance and conduct audits as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain and improve quality documentation including control checklists, inspection criteria and test procedures.
- Cross Functional Development: Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards.
Requirements for Quality Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field)
- At least 2 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA, Six Sigma, or Statistical Process Control
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Exposure to electronics or instrumentation products
- Ability to lead investigations and drive effective corrective and preventative actions
Nice to Have:
- Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Experience working in a mixed manufacturing environment with both manual assembly and SMT processes
- Background in sensor-based products
- Knowledge of regulatory standards beyond ISO 9001 (e.g., ATEX, UL, or CE)
- Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
- Experience conducting supplier audits and managing supplier quality performance
- Familiarity with new product introduction and design transfer processes
- Strong documentation and reporting skills using quality management software or data systems
