Annual Salary Range: $105,000 - $150,000 base salary. Individual salaries are based on education, geographic location, and alignment to the market data.
Summary for Senior Electrical Engineer
The primary responsibility of the Senior Manufacturing Engineer is to solve problems. This role investigates alternative solutions for given projects, develops cost information for each, and, depending on the magnitude of the project, takes it to the phase of execution or recommends the best solution to the department head. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer designs equipment or, when necessary, specifies equipment to satisfy manufacturing needs.
The manufacturing problems that confront the position vary in complexity from a minor change in a manufacturing process to a major modification of an existing facility or the installation of new machinery or equipment. On major projects, such as the set-up of a large or complex piece of equipment authorized for purchase or transferred from another plant, the position works with personnel from Operating Group or Corporate headquarters who may be attached to the project. The position contributes to each phase of the installation, set-up, debugging, implementation and training. On a project assignment, the position is the liaison between the plant and operating group staff.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer may be assigned to special projects such as new model launches to integrate new products to manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities for Senior Electrical Engineer
- Analyze manufacturing problems and develop alternative approaches to their solution.
- Evaluate solutions for efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain practical knowledge of operating systems and mechanical equipment throughout the plant.
- Seek to improve manufacturing processes by developing awareness of state-of-the-art in mechanical and electrical technology.
- Keep Manufacturing Engineering Manager informed of the status of assigned projects.
- As required by the project, the position writes tool orders and material requisitions and explains the specific needs to tool and material vendors. If tooling work is done internally, the position explains the need to the department Supervisor for build or repair of required tooling.
Requirements for Senior Electrical Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME or BSEE preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in a related technical field is required
- Work independently of management on multiple projects of varying levels of complexity and magnitude
- Take initiative in project approaches and practical experience gained from past assignments to solve problems
- Coordinate AFE's for assigned projects.
- Basis of accountability: Contributory on project expenditure
- Comprehensive knowledge of Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or other AutoCAD packages require
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is required
- Experience with manufacturing equipment and tooling is required
- Experience with APQP to support launching projects
- A strong mechanical background is required, particularly with automated manufacturing equipment
- Considerable knowledge of Windows computer systems with the ability to configure systems for machine interface and network communication
