Description for Senior Sales Engineer:
The Senior Sales Engineer will serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, acting as a subject matter expert in casting design and production, as well as machining while overseeing the successful launch and ongoing management of customer projects. This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with deep technical expertise in castings and machining, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to coordinate seamlessly with global teams. The candidate will ensure timely, proactive communication and deliver rapid, high-quality solutions to meet customer needs, positioning us as a trusted partner in new product development (NPD) and production.
Responsibilities forSenior Sales Engineer:
Casting Design and Machining Champion
- Serve as a subject matter expert in casting design, production, and machining processes, providing technical guidance to customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with a dedicated US-based support team of casting & machining-focused engineers to perform technical design reviews, support product launches, and conduct or coordinate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) evaluations.
- Proactively identify and address potential issues with foundries and machine shops, ensuring adherence to correct processes and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Provide rapid, actionable feedback to customers during the NPD phase, leveraging US-based tools and processes while consulting with international production bases only as necessary.
Project Launch Owner
- Take full ownership of customer projects, developing and sharing detailed development timelines with key milestones and expected completion dates.
- Act as the central coordinator between IBCC’s US operations and global Tier 2 foundries and machine shops in India and China, ensuring seamless information flow and alignment.
- Drive proactive communication with customers, anticipating needs and providing updates before issues arise, rather than reacting to problems.
- Implement and utilize advanced systems/tools to unify global operations on a single platform, enhancing visibility and efficiency across all regions.
Timely/Quick Response
- Respond swiftly to customer inquiries, requests, and issues, mobilizing resources and solutions with urgency and efficiency.
- Acknowledge customer requests promptly and provide clear timelines for feedback or resolution, particularly during rapid early-stage development cycles.
- Build trust with customer design engineering teams by delivering consistent, timely, and high-quality support that aligns with their fast-paced schedules.
Requirements forSenior Sales Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications in casting design/production preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in account management, casting design, and production, with a strong background in machining processes.
- Proven expertise in managing complex projects from concept through launch, including NPD and PPAP processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with international stakeholders effectively.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset and the ability to implement corrective actions in manufacturing environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach and the ability to build long-term relationships.
- Familiarity with project management tools and systems for global operational alignment (e.g., ERP systems, collaboration platforms).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and deliver results under tight deadlines.
