Description for Sr. Production Supervisor:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing both direct production and supporting teams within the plant. This role ensures that production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met while optimizing resources and workflow. The supervisor directs and motivates employees, develops departmental goals, implements process improvements, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, they ensure proper communication of policies, performance metrics, and operational strategies across the team, supporting both short-term production goals and long-term organizational objectives.
Responsibilities for Sr. Production Supervisor:
- Direct daily production operations, balancing safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Lead and manage direct and indirect production teams, including workload scheduling and resource allocation.
- Develop departmental and individual performance goals, monitor KPIs, and recognize employee achievements.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop production team members while managing performance and employee relations.
- Identify training needs, provide resources for skills development, and maintain certification and compliance standards.
- Ensure adherence to work instructions, quality requirements, and safety guidelines across all teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate tools, processes, and equipment, and implement process improvements.
- Support Lean Management Systems, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive and sustain 5S, visual management, and housekeeping practices throughout the plant.
- Review and inspect finished products to maintain quality standards and ensure compliance with production specifications.
- Analyze operational data and make recommendations for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Participate in strategic projects to improve departmental efficiency and support company objectives.
- Communicate production updates, goals, and changes effectively to staff and leadership.
- Ability to work overtime, night shifts, or weekends as needed.
Requirements for Sr. Production Supervisor:
- College degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication, sheet metal, and welding processes.
- 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate employees and resolve conflicts.
- Solid understanding of production processes, equipment, and tools.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Lean or Six Sigma training/experience.
- Experience with MES or other manufacturing software systems.
- Experience managing automated or robotic equipment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
- Experience in production environments where products are measured in minutes per unit.
